that's what was on the 18 i rebuilt. It was a 140 Evinrude *on a 18' 3" *Manatee. Strong motor, pushed boat around 42 to 45 MPH. You can make a jack plate out of stainless channel. cut and drill it what ever height you need.

yea it should push it pretty fast...my force 120 pushed it 36mph on a flat day...this 140 should do 40-45 easy....but i was just worried about wieght on transom since i cant tell 100% if my transom is strong enough to handle it....plus didnt want it to push the stern down too much so my scuppers are under water... but i weighed one battery tonight and it was 47lbs!! so i'm definetly moving one battery up under center console, if not both...i only hook up one battery at a time anyway.. other one is a backup.

i'm gonna call budget boats tommorow..they prob have some used jackplates laying around..i'm watching the used one on ebay now...if i can get this motor running without spending a ton of cash...it wouldnt hurt for me to buy one new.

A brand new fixed position jackplate can be had for less than $100. I looked into making one and found one for like $80 brand new. I'll see if I can find it. I bought it online.

I would do like skools said, I would call a metal supply place and ask if they have 3/8 or 1/2 channel and make my own!
