Flounder pounder has a 40 gallon tank for $160. The dimensions are 28" width, 33" length, 12-1/2" deep in center, 8-1/2" deep on side. Add 2" for fuel fill tube and fuel pickup clearance.
Includes sending unit and pickup

That sounds good, I will check it out. With my fuel efficient motor, I don't need a huge tank, but I would like one a little larger than 28.

Only thing I would worry about with a used tank would be if that tank is any good. It seems like an awful lot of V's had the tanks go bad.

Just kidding, but that seems to be your reply on all the other topics I've seen lately.

I was actually thinking of just using a 6 or 9 gal portable tank kept in the box between the seats when I need more range. Until I can afford a new tank.

Hey RB, I wouldn't worry about that - unless you mean "bad" as in has a bunch of holes in it ;)

If you mean bad as in full of gunk, you should be able to clean it out before putting it into your boat. You can use a pressure washer to rinse it really good several times and then let it dry in the sun. It will be good as new as long as it has no holes.

I remember someone posting a formula for gas tanks as LxWxH, but that's not exactly right, I seem to remember that you have to divide by 1728 and then multiply by 7.28. I don't exactly remember but I'll get it tomorrow at work and post if anyone wants the exact formula. We use it at work to determine tank capacity but I can't remember what the numbers are now.
