2 part won't fix this rust issue on the Johnson / Evinrudes you'd have to own one and see it in bad shape to understand only fix is either keep it oily when motor is new or replace it later and that is a major pain

its funny, i have friends with the same motor and year and theirs looks brand new. i always wash and rinse when i get home & spray with corrosion block. its like its rotting from the inside.

My Johnson steering arm is in the same condition as mentioned and I want to replace it during the off season. My only question is where does one find such a piece of equipment? My Johnson is a 1983 175 HP ???

Besides your local boat motor "junkie", you would be suprised what you'll find on e-bay. Seen one guy from California that had ''80's motors complete and running for sale cheap and would ship on a pallet.
