I'd like to take mine out of Beaufort to Big Rock. Its 40 miles one way. I have a 20 gallon tank beckoning me to make use of it. I figure I can put it underneath my rear bench seat and it won't be in the way too bad. I want to make it removeable but as user-friendly as possible. Which presents a problem. I can make a 120 mile round trip on my 60 gallons but it will be pusing the limits too far. This way I'll have 26 extra gallons (counting my 6 gallon tank I run the kicker on).

How far will you be taking your V round trip on 60 gallons?

Pending which ramp I use its either a 65 or 75 mile round trip to the nearest reliable tuna grounds, and home of course. I have room to store another 12 gallon tank easily. I've run a whole bunch of miles watching my fuel meter, I get 3.5 easy in good weather and 2.5 if it turns to snot. I'd like to leave 15 gallons in the just in case fund, so I'll plan my trips running an average of 3.0 mpg on 45 gallons of useable fuel. Thats a 135 mile round trip that I'm comfortable with. I use 3.0 in my calculations because while I may have to come in a bad weather, I ain't going out if a can't make my numbers.

I'll take the bench seat off your hands, that will leave pleanty of room for that tank. ;D

I just ran 40 miles on 7 gal last Saturday. I was going to replace the small 28 gal tank that replaced the 60 gal with a 40 gal, but I think I'll just carry an extra 9 or 12 gal in the fishbox if I go way out. Man I am looking forward to next week, and this summer.
