Agreed. That would have been the ethical thing to do.

That's not bad $8.00 a gallon delivered on the water. Think about it. He had to drive out to you and pump gas into your boat and he had to use his gas to get to you. $8.00 a gallon seems ok High hell yeah but what can you do. What I don't get is. I just came back from Georgia. And you can get gas there for $2.91 a gallon if you look around but the average price is about 310 a gallon and ethanol free is $4.19 a gallon. , that's not on the water that's on land. Why such a differance in price? I don't know
But don't trust your fuel gauge , ever. You got back safe and your motor ran good. That's a good thing.
Destroyer, ethical thing to do? That does not exists anymore. Me and you would do that but from a buisness point of view , nope, they want to get as much out of your pocket and into there pocket as they can . Ethics. A thing of the past. Sad but true.

The fuel burned in delivery should be accounted for exactly as the fuel burned in a tow. He had to get to our friend Charlie either way, and he had to return to the dock - either way. You might say, well he had to get the fuel onto the boat, but these guys always carry fuel around.

I get it, $8 on the water delivered ain't too bad, but in light of the membership dues I feel like it is a little high. JMO

All that being said, I'll keep paying my SeaTow dues!

I have heard Sea Tow and TowBoatUs have two very different business models

SeaTow make money off the vast majority of members that never use them. When they are called out, they will do whatever they can to upsell you or call it a hard grounding, etc. they can backcharge more to the organization for more than just a tow

TowBoatUs is paid very little to be an affiliate, but is able to backcharge a higher price per service call

At least that was the way it was explained to me.

Didn t we have a member who was a seatow captain on here for a while

Was it capt pete or something like that

Personally , I don't care what they charge as long as it don't come back to me. Hook me up and tow me back to port , they money they charge is not my buisness. Just get me back safe. So far I have been very lucky not having to use them but when I do call all I want is for them to show up and get me back. , I did my part paying dues the rest is irrelivant to me. I may sound cruel but that's that.

Well, since we're talking about ethics.... Think about this.... It costs less to make ethanol free gas than it does to make E10 or E15. All gas starts out as Ethanol free. They have to go through extra steps to add the junk to it. So why are they charging more for it than for the adulterated stuff?

As to the topic of Seatow or BoatUS, I agree with you 100%. Just tow me back to the dock. I'll figure out what's wrong while standing on terra firma. If I'm out of gas it's easy enough to go to the fuel dock. If it's electrical or mechanical it can either get parts or call it a day. Either way I and any passengers are safe and sound.
