Talking Our V20 aquisition!!

Hello all.
I've been following this forum for a while now reading up on the V20 and enjoying all the great information, how to's, and all the great photos. Well now we are proud owners of an 86' V20 with a 150hp Merc. My friends dad sold it to us for $500.00 claiming it only has around a 100hrs use. It has been sitting around since around 1990 and looks nasty. But i test cleaned a few areas and it looks like it will clean up. Structurally it appears pretty solid all the way around with the exception of the fuel tank hatch. It is soft and will need repairing. But the rest of the floor feels solid as does the transom. Looking down into the bilges where the stringers meet the transom looks good too. Most of the teak looks rough as do the rod boxes. A lot of cosmetics will need to be performed to get it looking nice again. Mechanically, my specialty, I will perform a compression test before dumping any $$ into the motor. If that is satisfactory, I plan to go thru the carbs, fuel system and replace the water pump. We are open to all comments, suggestions and recommendations that will help us bring her back seaworthy and looking good! Glad to be a member and thanks for looking!
Andre

A little scrubbing and a nice wax job and that is going to look great. What a deal on a great looking boat. Congratulations. Please keep us updated with "before and after" pictures!!
