I run a 1992 200 Merc, and I'll get 44 on GPS on a calm day, trimmed up all the way, just me a half tank (30 gal) and my canvas up on the CC.

Default Speed? We don't need no stinkin...

Gotta weigh in: First, welcome to this fabulous site. I've learned a boatload on this site, and some of it was about the V-20. When we head out in the '74 with two fat adults, three or four teens, plus assorted chillerens below twelve, it takes our 115 a little while to get up on plane, and then, wot we'll move darn near 28 mph (IFS--intermittently functional speedometer). That's enough to send the kids on the tube flying when we go round a corner. It's enough to rattle your fillings when you hit a ferry wake. And no matter what we do, we seem to burn two or 2.5 gals an hour. We swim, we fish, we putter around Woods Hole and nearby. But most of all, after being a sailor all my life, the V keeps my wife happy. That means more time on the Cape. We LOVE our V!
Nuff said.

Reel im not sure if it is the wrong prop... it is a 17 pitch.. does yammy have a rev limiter? it is slow to get on step and turns about 5800 rpm's

Jack, sounds like somethings wrong with your Yammy, I would gues it would be spinning a 21P and jumping on plane. Does your boat have bottom paint? You might want to try some one elses prop incase you have one thats been missmarked

well this is the second 17 i have run on it and like i said its turning max rpm's unless the yammy has a rev limiter on it to stop it from over revving..

I'll perpetuate the thread hijack.
I've not yet changed the prop but the 150 horse on mine only turns 5100rpm and does 44mph with a 19" on it.
I've got a 17" that I'm gonna try and see if I can improve the rpms, not expecting more mph but hoping for more mpg.
