Its been blowing very hard here in Beaufort with gust winds to 50mph for three days and last week was also very rough. We got out only twice in the last 10 days and picked up Mahi ,kings and Wahoo but got beat up pretty good coming in from 6 foot seas both days that were of course quartering at the inlet ..lots of coast guard and tow boat traffic..hopefully its over so we can get back on the fishies which are moving closer to shore...Frank

X2. Nothing so dramatic here, but we do have sandbars that usually keep the surf from getting so high. I checked out the beach last night and it wasn't so bad. This AM I checked on the PD and she was snug in her slip. The top was catching a lot of air, but nothing too terrible. Winds around 20-25 with gusts into the 30s. It's keeping the skeeters down. ;D

Here is a good pic from our paper showing the surf:

http://www.islandpacket.com/news/loc...-5789337c.html

I went down to our beach around 6 PM, took my camera and wind gauge. It was a steady 22 mph, with gusts into the mid and upper 30s. Pics don't do it justice... :-/

Nearshore sandbars keep this area from getting big surf, something I guess we should be thankful for.
