???I'm going to be looking at a '95 V-21 steplift with the molded in fiberglass extension/engine mount.
I don't have any experience with, and have not heard anything good or bad about this type of engine mount. Wellcraft seems to have made it for only a few years. Is this a known to be good setup? or is it something to be cautious of? I'm new to Wellcraft, but aware of the good reputation of V-20 steplift hulls. |

lucky_strike, welcome to the site. As far as the transom configuration on the V21 Steplift; I view it as a very good thing. Should run similar to a bracket setup. Gives you more cockpit space. It was a short production run because, sadly, it was near the end of the Steplift design that we know and love. Unfortunately, what they now refer to as a Steplift bears little resemblance to it's original design.
For the right price, I would jump at the V21. But, still be cautious and check it out thoroughly. Good luck. Let us know how you make out with it.

The V-21 was the last improvement on a great boat. The engine noise and equipment are behind a nice splash board and with the raised floor it really is a self bailing cockpit.
That is my V-21 in The For Sale section of this web site. I've been running it on a daily basis since June. She started life with a 200 HP Yamaha. If I can answer any questions for you just yell. |

Good luck, I am thinking of doing a stand off bracket on my '89. I wish I had one that was original from the factory.
