Default 86 200 hp yamaha idle problem

On my v-20 i have an 86 200 hp yamaha which has an idle problem. Usually starts right up on one turn or two, but when i start to back down the idle after its been warmed up it usually kicks out a few times. this happens all the time but when its put in gear it runs great never a problem. any suggestions?

Could be a few things, change filter and make sure you are getting good gas flow.

Clean the Carb's

Change the plugs

When is the last time you did a de-carb, Yamaha's are know to have a build up, should do every year!

Sure you have good gas?? this new gas gets lots of water in it, is it gas from this season or from last?
