I like to have choices and this means there will be fewer (most likely). I also don't like to see the products becoming "homogenized" by fusing various brands together. Freedom of choice is what fair competition is all about. The FTC will surely get involved on this one. >:(

You're probably right, but it seems both agencies get involved when you don't want them to and conversely absent when they should be involved. ??? ::)
We'll see. they got invovled with the P&G buyout of Gillette (which included Braun, OralB, Duracell, and various other Gillette holdings)

The FTC, who's that, I thought they would get involved on some other questionable
mergers, but alas, nowhere to be found. My personal feeling is you can lump FTC right in with FDA.

Here's the reason it's a bad thing...CEOs of publicly-held companies that size are interested in only ONE THING...and that's the price of their stock...that is driven largely by quarterly earnings and profits...a company that size has a whole department of BEAN COUNTERS who report to the head BEAN COUNTER...he reports to the CEO...and he reports to the Board...it's a brown-nosin' operation all the way to the top...and the best way to do that is to show off how you've cut costs and added to the bottom-line...
BEAN COUNTERS have NO marketing/sales sense or ability...no sense of "making it better, so we can sell more"...all they can do is cut what they have in front of them..."make it cheaper so we can profit more from it"... I'll step down and let someone else have it for a while...gotta go let my blood stop boilin' for a minute or so... >:( ...
