Twenty eight years ago I competed in what was called PPC shooting and later in I.P.S.C shooting. I bought myself a pair of high end Ray Bans that change color based on light frequency and intensity.
28 years ago, they have been worn for thousands of hours shooting driving and especially hunting and have saved my eyes more than a few times from tips of branches, flying debris etc, and they are still like new, accept the plastic that goes around the flex wire around the ears has cracked and I will probably get them redone soon.
When my wife and I went to Key West five years ago now I splurged and bought a nice pair of Cost Del Mar's on sale but still around 180 bucks I think. I use them constantly for anything around the water and somethimes just for driving. Still like new, salt water smeared on them, dropped in the boat and truck etc.
I also buy cheaper stuff once in awhile to keep an extra pair around and for occassional use and they never last more than a couple of months without getting scratched to the point that they will fatigue my eyes if I wear them to long.
100 bucks for Ray Bans 28 years ago, and more recently 200 bucks or so for the Costa's. Pretty d@mn good investment for the safety of your eyes. I wish other things I have bought over the years held up that well ;)

I know that a higher end pair would hold up better but I'm just too careless with them. *I'm with Hammer but I think he pays too much.

Well I have some degeneration going on in my eyes, Doc says its been from 30 years of going on the water and not wearing sunglasses!!

Everyone please wear your glasses with UV protection!! weather they are $1 or $500!!

I never worn them cause they get salt spray on them the second I put them on, they ended up being more of a pain then they were worth in my book!!
I tried everything to keep them clean, even licking the salt off, My stomach could handle all that salt! LOL

Now I have to wear glasses out side and I am looking for some good ones!!
Yes I get perceptions but they just don't stand up to the salt!! I really wish de mar, Ray, Oakley would make STYLISH clip on's or over glasses , glasses.
That are as as good as you guys have!

There is a huge difference in that regard also, your right Stink.
Some people, myself included cannot afford to leave things behind or drop them overboard etc. so I am just very careful with them.

Last pair of hi-dollar shades I owned have been on the bottom of Lake Moultrie for 20 some-odd years now...as I watched them descend outta sight (winter or I woulda dived in after 'em) , I swore that'd be the last big-buck pair...

MJ...go to optical dept at Wally World...good quality polarized clip-ons there ... and yep, they see into the water great... ;) ... whether at Lake Hartwell or Ft Pierce C Bouy... ;) ...

maui jim shaka for the boat and costa del mar bahia mar for just lookin pretty.

hey maco, bass pro has cocoons.
measure your prescrip. glasses and order the size that fits over.
they are quality shades and will block rays from the top and sides as well.

they will run you about 30 bucks and worth every dam penny.

dont wait till it gets worse.
save them disturbing peepers.
