On Old School it was set up so all that chain was not on deck, instead you pulled it in and a special hook on the pulpit that caught the chain link when it was pulled tight you hooked the closest link on it and you were golden. I can't find a pic of it maybe Kevin can take a shot for you guys. It was the nicest arrangement I have seen and I anchored a lot with it. The pulpit and anchor roller along with being able to stand and pull it up without bending at the waist is really the only way to go unless you have a windlass, which obviously would be easier.
