i tried to cap off the oil side of the pump on my 120 looper, but thefuel side started acting up, it would start clicking and leaking fuewl out of the oil flow sensor, rather than screw with it any more, i found an old 235 fuel pump adn taped the block pressure hole for a pipe nipple and installed it to replace the fuelpump/oil pump set up i had, if nothing else, it cleaned up that side of the engine.

This is a LOOPER NO NO!!! The looper engines don't produce the crankcase pressure that cross-flows do and they WILL lean out under WOT runs. The cross-flow pumps put out around 4 psi whereas the looper pumps(the VRO pumps) put out 6 psi. I tried this with my 140 looper one time just to see, and ANYTHING over 1/2 throttle dropped the fuel pressure below 2 psi. If it's been working for you, you are way beyond lucky. The 120 doesn't use the fuel that a 140 does, but it will eventually lean it out if you run it long enough.

i was worried about lean out so i ran a pressure guage before I finished the install, never got below 2.5 psi at wot, and I held it there for a long time.

According to my manual, minumum pressure is 4. The 120's must not use no where near as much fuel as the 140's, mine lumitted with an old style pump. I know at 2 mine started surging. My VRO pump won't go under 4 psi and that is at slow speeds, at load it holds 5-6.

the VRO pumps are all alike the loopers all use same part number. the v8 loopers use 2 of the VRO pumps.

The first were PN. 174566 for all loopers 1987 & 1988

Then 1989 new VRO2 came out PN. 174879 all loopers 1989 & 1990

Then new revised VRO2 in late 1991 PN. 175109 for all loopers 1991 to 1993

Then 1994 the newest VRO Pro PN. 435953

The newest Part number will fit all the VRO2 will fit all as well. the VRO 2 are the better VRO pumps.
