My ex-brother in law (my wife's sisters second of four so far) could tell you what brand of oil you were running from the smell of the exhaust, a true machine head.

I like both, but since I have a nice 4stroke, that is my preference.

I don’t know how to do it, but I’ve decided to disconnect my VRO. Is there a special part to be applied on the motor or something to be removed other then the tank, hose etc?

Thanks

Joe

Pretty sure its 2 things, the electrical plug and capping off the oil intake line.

I did it one time, but I'd rather let someone else tell you than for me to tell you wrong ;)

If it's a JOHNNY-RUDE, then you unplug the harness from the VRO pump and cap off the oil line(the small inlet on the small side of the pump). Many people just put a bolt in the hose to block it off, or you can go to a dealer and they sell a special heavy rubber boot to cap it off. And make certain to pre-mix your oil from then on. I also like to make sure that the pre-mix is what's in the bowls as well before starting. If you disconnect it and put pre-mix in the tank, you could still have plain gas in your lines and filter. So I would drain your bowls and filters and pump tyhe pre-mix through those as well.

Here's a 1987 like yours with the oil line still hooked up on the stand.

This is the plug you unplg to turn off the oil pump if your alarm will let you on some models the buzzer will go off if so just leave it hooked up and cap it off anyway.

here's the oil line going into your oil pump seen here on my 1987 Johnson 225

Here's the oil line capped on the oil pump of a 3 wire pump on my 1990 Evinrude 140

Pointing to the fuel and oil line nipples see oil one is capped. must be done or it will suck some air and run lean. Can just cut short piece of hose and push a bolt in to it and run a tie wrap around it to stop air too.

Then just take out the oil tank and the lines. Sell it on ebay for some other un expecting person to use lol.

There are people out there who pay good money for this kind of technical support and only get half as good of info as we get here.

I know mine isn't working, but I think the hose is still conected?? I am going to have to look again!

Just have to cap off the suck side of the pump?

This is a new to me motor, I know the wires are disconnected, but I am sure I saw that little filter when I was in there.

Thanks Skools!!
