Default Re: Transom replacement

I've owned an 85 v20 with an evinrude 185 and loved it. this boat is an 89 center console with no splashwell. the force is down but not out. carburation problems. the transom has water intrusion and delamination. in a following sea, water can get between the aluminum plate over top of the transom if not properly caulked. i am considering the purchase of the 89 but i know i'm probably looking at $1,500-2000 for the transom. i've also found a 180 fisherman with a full transom (ex- seadrive) but i haven't seen any with a bracket . anybody know of any? great boat for a yamaha 130. i think a v6 outboard would add too much weight though. thanks guys for your input.
