turbinedoctor...whatever batts you get, if ya really want 'em to last, install an on-board battery charger...two of my batts are 6 yrs old and strong as new cause they're always on the charger when not in use...keeps 'em hot and hot batts are HAPPY batts...I've got two Die-Hard crankin/deep-cycles marines for startin' and accessory...and two group 31 AC Delcos for the elec. trollin' motor :) ...

i always run the plat. Advance Auto 1000cc Batt with 8 yr warranty for $58 but i run 2 in larger boats than 17 ft and 1 under 17 ft. they are top and side post, i just connect them together with side post thru a batt switch and hook the motor to one of them off the top post.

I thought about installing a onboard charger and plugging it in when backed into the garage. What size and type do you have. Have you ever dried out a batt leaving it on charge?
How about the fire hazzard with a hot batt gassing off and a 60 gallon tank of gasoline so close together? One spark in an enclosed but detached garage and I may have to place a call saying "Houston, I think we have a problem".

Since we are on the battery subject, read the following on isolators and integrators. I have yet to install one but would like to.

I also run auto batterys!! Marine comes with crap warr, and they never seem to last more then 2 seasons??
Auto comes with up to 8 years depending what you buy. as for why they use 2 batterys, one for electronics, and one for start and run. Most are on a switching system so the power can be on one or both batterys or both off. This way at rest on the water you can run all your stuff and still have a battery to get home with.

If I needed 2 batteries at once I'd probably go for it. http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/troll_fury.asp
