Hi RAP,
There's like a foot or so of clearance between the skeg and the horizontal piece of wood (and that's on a 25" shaft). That would make working on the engine a little more difficult since the power unit is so high up from the ground. Also, that middle vertical piece was cut, fitted, and attached since the taking of the photo. Thanks for the compliment RAP and feel free to call me Steve or whatever ;)
