Shawsee, I am sorry for your lose :'(
I had my Dog Merrick since he was 5 weeks old, truely my best friend that I was with every day for the last 11 years. Went through some of the worse and best times of my life with him. damn, I used to cudle with him @ night when we were sleeping. He was fine after my 1st daughter was born but when my 2nd daughter was around 9 months he started chewing there toys.. I was in the kitchen one after noon and herd him growling @ my youngest daughter because she was sitting on his bone. The next day I had to bring him to the pound. Even though I knew he would never hurt either of them, I could not take that chance. That was with out a doubt the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

had a lab for 13 years , and went through the same thing as all above. i don't know if you were with your dog when they gave the shot, but it is quick and not a whimper. i was holding mine in my lap and stroking his head and he just went limp, no noise or struggle. this gave me some peace of mind.

My condolences. Over the weekend I noticed that the grave marker I made for our dog Max had fallen over. Me and the kids made it out of wood when he died. I picked it up and found that it had rotted off at ground level. Made me think about how long it had been. It's over eight years now but I still miss him. I'm getting a little watery eyed as I'm writing this...

Remember the good times.

I feel ya! Came home a year ago to find my pepper ( brindle bulldog) laying in the driveway. I/we had just gotten back from my ex wife's house and the girls and I got out and found her there. Not a good way to start the weekend. You're right, they are part of the family and even now, I get a little misty thinking about her.

Shawsee, I'm truly sorry for your loss, and I know where you're coming from. What Reel said is exactly how I feel.
