Message recieved, and will do on keeping repairs questions in repairs section, and summer rondevous topics in that section.

The panel doors I have are:

1st hatch is the aft door located on front side of engine splash well. On '80 outboard boats it is only way to get to bilge area below engine ....

I prefer a side opening hatch since it provide more accessability... hence the question about end-drilling - since the existing hatch uses a piano hinge...

2 nd hatch is forward anchor locker.

again - this hatch uses piano hinges -and open sideways ...

I wil take your advice - do it, and show you the results to you (hopefully) in June!
