Default Deposit down...

Ahoy there Wellcraft V20 folks!! *I am considering the purchase of this boat

How do you get the hyperlink to work???

and would like to have some feedback on performance, fuel efficiency and is this a fair price or am I getting taken to the cleaners...the engine is 2 years old.
I know it has bottom paint which is the non-ablative type so I don't have to keep painting the bottom since I will be trailering it.

We are supposed to go on a sea trial next weekend.

Thanks!

Newer engine, boat looks clean, does it include trailer? My guess 5000 to 5500. Welcome aboard! Bill Mc ;D

Yes it includes a tandem axle trailer that didn't really look to have any rust on it at all....

Yes, you win the dubious distinction of being the first newbie of 2006. How does it feel? Oh and you also win a date with the glamorous V20 Diva; macojoe. :o

Instead of using the hyperlink, just copy and paste the URL

Boat looks to be in decent shape. That's quite a stain on the cushions. Wonder what kind of activities have been going on in that cabin. :o ::) ;)

gj,

Same boat as I bought, except mine is an 86 and had the original 4.3. I have since installed a V8. Yours is in a lot better shape, and with the newer 4.3, you should have a blast.(not to mention the newer 4.3 has a balance shaft and is nice and smooth. The older ones gave you the shake, rattle and roll at idle.)

Looks like a score to me.......

You might consider moving the battery, if it gets loose, it will be into your crank pulley. I have 2 batteries in the port and stb. lockers next to the engine box.

Good luck, and let us know how the sea trial went! I'd be curious as I never ran mine with the V6 ;D

Look's like it is in good shape. No signs of abuse. I have an '87 that is very similar. I paid $4,700 for mine with a Johnson 225 that needed work, and with a crappy trailer, and that was a good deal.

Some stuff to check for:
- soft spots on the transom, or floor, fact that it had anti fouling paint implies it sat in the water at one point.
- I had to replace my gas and vent hose because of dry rot. Tough to check without pulling up the deck on the gas tank. At a minimum, smell for gas in the bilge.
- what electronics come with it?
- what canvas comes with it? I bought a full canvas cover ($600 well spent) and also a bimini ($250 also well spent)
- look in the anchor rope area up front to see if there is a ton of rust on the backing plat of the winch eye.

Check on Ebay and also Boattrader.com for similar models. It's the best hull under 25ft. They last forever.
$5k is a good number.
