From the ones I've seen in boat yards it appeared that the mid section was diiferent and they were dedicated units for sea drive only, could not use the whole motor on anything else. You could take off the power head and lower unit and use them on similar regular outboards. At least that is what I have been told over the years, and I think what you are calling a bracket is actually the sea drive mount and system itself. It was the first of its kind but had limitations. The brackets we are referring to are made by Stainless Marine, Armstrong and others and are a diiferent animal altogether.
