MACOJOE, One more thing. My quick test will only tell you if the float system and control module are functional. If your float system fails my quick test, then the next step is to properly test the float switches, as per the article. If it passes the proper test, then you must then look to the control module and the mercury switch. Let us know how you make out.

Macojoe, reread my post above.

All you need to do is turn your ignition key to the on position. Take the float assembly out . Remove the strainer filter. Slide the float up and down the shaft. Listen to the pump to see if it comes on and off when it is supposed to. You don't need to have any oil in the system or start your motor to see if it was only a missaligned float that caused your problem.

* You MAY need to have the remote tank at least half full for the pump to come on, but you don't need oil anywhere else for the pump to work. If you drained the remote tank when you disabled the system - the pump will/should come on automatically for 180 seconds to fill the engine oil tank to the correct level.

You've got to bear with him Seakindly. He was probably standing too close to the microwave oven again. ;D

I just wanted to know if it was time to sell my stock in the YAMAHA SPARK PLUG MANUFACTURING CORPORATION, or should I hold my shares in anticipation of another year of record breaking sales in the American Northeast?

You may be right!! I have not had the chance to get out there. The boat is all covered and there is no batterys in the boat eaither.
It would be a major project just to get into the thing!! So i will be waiting till March some time to do the test.
But I have printed this thread and the site you sended me to. So I have all the info at my finger tips when the time is right.

I will keep all informed when I do it. This way you all can learn by my mistakes!! ;D
