think I saw that 4sale about a week or so after I bought mine the price then was 6500.00,that was back in mid april. Somebody else on the board quoted the seller as saying it was a gas hog and thats why he was selling. It does look like a good deal if everything checks out.

Where does it say it's a 20" transom? 88's are 25" transom boats.

My '86 V20 with a 225 Johnson clocks (GPS) at 44MPH, with a clean bottom.

44 is nice!! But you don't gain to much for the extra horse power??
I have a 175 Yamaha and I can get with a light load about 37 on the GPS and I am always doing 30. I get about 3 mpg and thats about 11 gph what does the 225 get ? Not that it really matters as you can almost never use the power anyway, unless you are on a pond all the time.

Not much else for the extra HP. 225 is on the other side of optimum for a V20. I average 1-2 MPG so it's expensive to use. I am seriously thinking about repowering. My ideal is a 175-200 Yamaha recent used.
I keep checking eBay. I may pick one up this winter. |
