For braided line Wiseguy has a good suggestion there.
Also, a Trilene knot will work too.

I've had the same thing happen using Spiderwire too.. line when new is kinda slick.

One trick you can do as well instead of glue, is what we also do with heavy mono line. Tie your regular knot you use, then leave a little extra tag end where you'd snip the excess off. Then just lightly heat the end of the tag with a lighter or match and it will literally "ball" up. This will keep the knot from pullin loose as it gives a little more bite for the wrap to bite down on it self.

Also good tip on bein carefull pullin knots tight by hand, them braid lines will cut right into yer first or second knuckle, especially when ya get yer hands wet
