I was trying to direct people to this site from the facebook groups( there are two of them, i believe Skunkboat oversees one of them). I was sending people to the vast resources and information on this site. I followed up with several of them and they told me they got tired of all the notifications only to be from the political forum, not boat related and they stopped following the site. Several specifically called out BGreene. make no mistake, I can argue with the best of them over politics, any of you ever been on Pirate4x4 or irate4x4 can attest to teh kind of "discussion" I'm used to when it comes to politics. One of the best friend i have from this site is Reelappealing( y'all need to get him back on here) and we have completely opposing opinions on politics. we do not discuss it, we talk fishing, boating and family when we talk. We have remained friends for many years without it ever being an issue. Some of you remember when I first came to this site, it was a refuge for me for many years. It helped me get thru a lot of issues at that time. I like to think this place will always be a refuge for many. I've discussed several topics( the same 5) with Bgreen over the years, he'd ask a question to an answer he already had his mind made up to, if he didn't get the response he wanted, he'd start another topic. If you eliminate any post counts from the politic thread, you find he's way far down the count, I honestly believe he was more interested in his post count than anything. From what I've heard, this isn't the only site he's done this to( bassbarn?). I've given out thousands of $ worth of advise on this site with the only want in return is to have a site i enjoy. I don't know when the last time Skools, of Ferminator, Capt. Pete have been on this, along with a couple other boat wrenches that have frequented this site, but I'm still here trying to help those that ask for help.

I never was a participant in the political forum. Nothing to be gained by it, i m not changing your mind and your not changing mine.

Now talking boats, always willing to debate that subject

About the "new posts" notifications showing for the political forum. As many may know, I realized that was a problem and I made a change to remove the politics section from showing up as "new posts." This was done a year or two, maybe three years ago.

On the history of the political forum - it was already there when I took over the site in 2017. So, I didn't create it and it doesn't really bother me that it is there. You either go there or you don't. Nobody is forced to go there. To that end I think it was a good move to remove it from showing as "new posts."

This site has always been a super friendly place compared to many other forums. I think we can all agree on that point. So when I see someone being flat-out mean to another member (or members) who is not being mean - I have a problem with it. That isn't what this place is about and it never will be!

BTW I've never banned anyone without multiple warnings. And never, never, never, in a million years, would I ban a member over differing opinions.

We discussed and almost banned him on classicseacraft a few times. He's a not so lovable public nuisance.

All in all, I proved my point, but still banned and I think it's for the best.
There was one other person that was banned for some really foul language. I'll have to look up his name. He was only a member for a few days.
