I had to paint mine after i rebuilt the deck. I used epoxy, so i could not use gel coat. Once u paint,u will have to repaint. Last about 3-5 years

Every 3 to 5 years. Hmm I would really l8ke to paint it but I’m not happy about repainting the deck 3 tp 5 years. Did anyone use a different paint that last longer ?

I’m guessing phatdaddy’s boat gets heavier use in Florida and more sun on the deck. Might make a difference in how long the epoxy paint lasts???

like all painting, the results depend on the prep. The paint is not what wears out, it is the non-skid.

If i could , i would have put down new gel coat, I think it protects the non-skid better.

First time i painted, i used Awlgrip 2 part. Pretty pricey, looked great, but wore down in a couple of years
Second time, i used a 2 part industrial paint from Rustoleum, lot less exspensive , looked great, wore down in 3-4 years
Next time. I used a one part industrial paint from Glidden, much cheaper, looked great, wore down in 3-4 years
Last time, i used outdoor porch paint from Home Depot, bout the same price as Glidden, been about 10 years and really needs to be redone now.

Since you have to sand off the previous paint, it is much easier to remove the cheap stuff than the 2 part paint.

Given the lay out of these boats, most wear is on the fuel cell hatch and the outside the cabin door.

Ok I got it but one question. If you had to do it again and never painted your deck before what paint would you recommend ?
This is what I’m looking for
Easy to apply
Durability

Cool

I've posted it many times but I'll remind everyone that U-POL Raptor Tintable Urethane Spray-On Truck Bed Liner (like Rhinoliner) is also a great way to paint, seal cracks, add non skid and have a soft surface for bare feet, all at the same time. And it lasts forever. And you can tint it to any color you want. You can find it on eBay. If I recall correctly, i used four 4 liter kits to do my deck

Here's what it looked like when I finished it. it is expensive, but I did it in 2012 and it's held up nicely for 12 years now. There is one tiny spot on the deck about the size of a postage stamp where it has come up. I think it's because I missed a spot preping the deck before I applied the stuff. Other than that, it's almost like new.

What s wrong with the deck that it needs painting?

D, i used Kiwi Grip on my little whaler. It had molded in non-skid that was spider cracked, it did a great job on that. The only problem with coating is they almost impossible to remove if you ever have to. I do like that you can make the texture as smooth or aggressive as u want.

Dam Destroyer , that looks professional really nice, did you spray it on ?or brush it on ? The reason I’m asking is because from what I can see the lines are perfect even if you tape it you wil get over spray
And the reason I want to paint my deck. Is because we cleaned it after a fishing trip and the deck looks great but the only thing I don’t like it that it has a bunch of spider cracks and I feel that if I try to fix the cracks it will look worst. So I was thinking. Paint it.
I could leave it alone but she would be looking much better painted or if destroyer wants to come down and do it for me,there is a cup of coffee waiting for you. And a sandwich too. It looks great.

if that s your issue,do something like D did would work great. If u try to paint over a spider crack, all you will get is a painted crack.
