Dump the boat or dump the engine? What is wrong with the motor? 4 stroke? I don't like 4 strokes or EVs

Still have mine. ‘86 (maybe ‘85 - can’t remember), 170 I/O. Hasn’t been out for a few years - finally cleaning out shop to get it in and work on it. Long story short, it was overheating because I let the impeller get old and crumble. Got that fixed and almost rammed a shiny new boat at the dock because the choke stuck. Even Spare hasn’t been able to source a replacement part, other stuff took over and the boat’s been sitting. I’m thinking I may have to find a really long choke cable and rig it for manual choke. I thought it was about ocean ready: new alternator, water pump fixed, new hot ignition, new 15 horse kicker for backup power (which I used several times during the overheating episodes), newer GPS/sonar, etc. I have a couple of fishing buddies with boats, but I really miss the great ride of the V.

I have my Grandfather’s ‘86 V20. Repowered it with a 2020 Yamaha 200 and still run it nearly every day in the Patuxent River.
