the senor is a me coil wrapped in copper, the shaft adaptor has a magnet in it, when a magnet passes a metal coil, it should produce voltage. IIRC, its AC. I've got a DVA adaptor that will give me specific voltage, but seeing as how the module is looking for any voltage, just compare from engine running to engine off

I just came from my boat, checked the cap. Checked good
Replaced the oil motion sensor with a old one I kept that was good and alarm still sounded
I'm thinking the oil module? The only thing is it's expensive and I want to be sure,is there a way to check the module? If not then I'm hoping yo have to chance it
The only thing that might give you a clue I that when you turn the key it beeps three times like it should but as soon as it starts it beeps imidiately. No delay at all I hate to spend. All that money if I don't need it but if I need it then I would love to spend it. Thanks for any insight to this problem.

My last question on the oil alarm.
If I disconnect the leads going to my motion sensor and oil cap float and the alarm keeps beeping does that mean the box monitor is no good?
Or will it do the opposite. .?

Please bare with me, the oil pump/gear sensor has three wires, one is the ground and the other two are for something. What I would like to know is if I disconnect the two wires and hook it to a multimeter ( leaving the ground alone and hooked up) should I get voltage reading from the two wires? If it's working of course as the magnet turns internally.

Spare thanks for taking the time to help me,I'm not good with electric but the multimeter question you answered for me is going to be a great help. That is what I'm going to do if I get no reading than its the motion sensor or the internal gear if I do get a reading than I'm going to replace the low oil and temp warning module. I found one on eBay ( new) for $260.00 that's the cheapest I found. Your a great help spare and really appriciate it. Thanks,
