I wish I had tryed the new set up with out the whale tail!!
I have always had one since I bought the boat, It was the first thing I added. But when I converted to the outboard I never tryed it without, I just took it off the I/O and installed before I used it. But it handled just fine and the same as before. So I guess it works just fine as it made a great difference when I did it ti the I/O
