The reason is because they are being told that if they apologize they are likely to get a lesser sentence than if they remain defiant. That's common practice in all court trials, not just this one. Did you ever read Orwell's 1984? You should know that.

Talk about spin, it's funny how that article starts with describing the jan 6 demonstration as a "deadly attack" on the Capital when in fact the only person that was killed was the woman that was murdered by the Capital Police thug. A few other people (I believe 6 in total including Ashi) died as a result of that Demonstration. Heart attacks and other medical reasons... As far as the article goes, I believe it's still legal to call people on the phone and talk to them. President Trump did nothing wrong, no matter how much the Democrats and you try to spin it. (Maybe that's why he wasn't arrested?) Move along folks... nothing to see here....
