Then I run down the Hackensack river to the New York bight, then from there to the Hudson river and from there to Sandy hook. It's a 21 mile run, but the launch ramp is really nice with good parking and it's free. So I use a little more gas but I pay no launch fees, and no tolls on the GSP. Plus while everyone else is sitting in traffic on the GSP on a Sunday I'm cruising upriver @ 40mph most of the way. I save time, temper and less distance to travel.

You have a place you buy bait, if you need it? Since 2017 I really haven’t had much free time to use my boat, but I’m planning on using it this summer. I’ve been toying with launching from secaucus and running down.

There are several places in Carlstadt, Monachie and Newark that have small streams that killies live in. The second river in Newark, just before it joins into the Passaic river is a favorite spot for me. Take Rt21 to the mill Street exit, make your first left turn and there's a little bridge about 200 feet ahead. I just put out killie traps and get several quarts full. Keep them in a 5 gal bucket overnight with an air pump and they'll be fine for the morning trip. I get frozen Squid from ShopRite or pretty much any food supermarket. That's ham and eggs for Fluke. For Blues and the rest I use lures. I have down-riggers and troll Umbrella rigs a lot for Blues and Stripers
