Smile Looking for Hatch Liners

I have a 1988 Wellcraft V20 for about 20 yrs. Got orphaned when Evinrude sunk. Will be repowering. In the mean time planning to start with little things to start. Stern hatch liners rotted long ago from some accidental sun exposure. Never thought it would be so hard to find. Thought the original mfg was Tempress, but they have nothing even close size wise. Call to Wellcraft was worthless. "we dont keep records back that far" but it appears I can have the make a hatch cover which I have done twice in the past. Anyone have any thoughts where I can find a pair of hatch liners approximately 8.5 by 13 inches. I can probably shrink or stretch that measurement a bit. Has to have a lip on it to catch the opening. The original was tapered about 10 or 12 inches deep. Have found lots of interesting info on this site over the years.

Ahh, one of the Holy Grails in the Wellcraft kingdom. Somebody on here reported a certain bathroom waste basket from Rubbermaid was a close fit. Also had a member that was going to use one as a mold and make some fiberglass replacements, might find him in a search.

Good Luck and if you find a good substitute or a source, post it.

I still have one that’s in pretty rough shape. Lots of cracks and it seems like every time I pick it up it breaks more. I need to use it to make a mold for some new ones, just haven’t got around to it. May be a nice winter project.

Default Searching for the Holy Grail - hatch liners

Thanks for those replies. I've got one damaged liner that I suppose I could make a mold for however it appears to be some kind of vinyl. Thought I had a winner in a stainless lunch counter serving insert but it was off by about an inch and tough to sand or grind stainless to the right size. Going to do a bit more searching on the Rubbermaid idea. In the meantime..... the search continues. Thanks.

There's nothing that says it has to be plastic. You could probably go to local sheet metal shop and have them make you some out of aluminum....might not be cheap but would work fine.

Speaking of metal, did nt someone post about the stainless drop in bins they use on buffet tables working? They have shallow ones and deep ones. Had to do a little trimming on the flanges

Got them at a surplus restaurant supply house,
I don t know, maybe I dreamed it
