The ad says it's a V20 but if you look at the pics it's def a V21. 200HP Yammy engine. Dirty as heck, (Hate to see a boat neglected like this) but it probably can be had for a song. Ad says dual axle trailer is in good shape and engine has not been run for several years but was winterized when put into storage. Ad says the deck, transom etc are solid and in good shape. Current bid is $200 plus a $150 document fee. Boat is in Ohio.
Maybe a real steal here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-20-WEL...4AAOSw09peJLMV

True, but at least the charity auctioneer for this boat doesn't charge a BS "document fee" of $300 for the item in addition to the auction price like "boatangels" does. In point of fact, I've bought 2 items (V20 for $600 and a 10' inflatable) from this particular auctioneer in the past and have been hugely happy with both of them. Both have been exactly as described.
Truth is, if this auction was closer to me I'd be in it. The dual axle trailer is worth the price plus by itself, and if the engine and hull are as described then that's up to a $6000 turn around with just a day devoted to power washing. If the engine and hull are crap then the profit from the trailer will easily pay for the cost of scrapping the rest. So I'd still make a profit. But I just don't feel like making the drive to Ohio this time of the year.

That's a cleaner upper and a fixer upper...could be a diamond in the rough though.
I wish whoever gets it the best of luck.

(I have to admit that's how I bid also. I figure how much I'm willing to actually spend, and that's the bid i will enter. For that boat I would have bid $1007.99. My theory being that people usually bid in set amounts... $5 or $10. So anyone that bid $1000 or $1005 would lose to me. I also never enter a bid until there are only 3 seconds left in the bidding. I have the amount already entered, I just don't click the enter key until 3 seconds. That way no one has time to enter a counter bid). Over the years I've bought over 700 items off ebay, and that's one of the tricks that I use to get items I want. (Most times I'll simply find what I want from a seller that offers "buy it now" and "free shipping". Bidding is risky, (but fun). In all cases I'm sorry you didn't get the boat. I hope whoever got it finds there way to this site. I'd love to hear how the boat actually is. I suspect they got a steal.

Sorry you didn't get it JB.
That is my method on ebay as well...although one time I put in my max bid before I went to bed on an item, the next day I learned that I had joined the elite V20 owners club. When you bid early, you are just running up the price on yourself.

I use the same method you guys mentioned I didn’t bid until about 30 seconds left. I would have preferred to let it go longer but was on a cell phone with crappy service and didn’t trust it to actually go through when I hit the button.
I had my max bid in as well I wanted to have 1k or less in it and after their $150 fee and fuel/tolls each way $652.86 was my max. I also have a gut feeling this is going to be a good one. The only thing that didn’t line up for me is the donor stating it hasn’t been touched in 8 years and registration sticker on the boat being good till 2021. They expire every 3 years here in Ohio and I don’t see a reason anyone would renew it and put the stickers on at least twice while it’s just sitting. That could be a good thing for the buyer or a bad thing. Just caught me as the donor not being honest about at least 1 thing.
