Hey guys!! I'm new to the board - Lead Head is the name of my 1984 V20 Steplift. Have owned it for four seasons. Have had the passenger captains seat pull out of the floor a couple of times, and have moved the round pedestal base to new locations and screwed it in again. Was told by a friend that the next step will be to repair by opening a hole in the floor and putting a ring of marine grade wood under the base to screw into from the pedestal above. I'm sure someone of you have done this in the past. Is it a huge job or is there space under the this area to work. Just want to know if I will get into a repair that will involve the immediate area or if a 2-4 foot area will be involved? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Lead Head

Needs to have a hole cut in the floor and through bolt preferably with aluminum backing plates and seal everything with 3M 5200. End of problems......... ;) 8)
Oh.........welcome! ;D

Have you tried the anchor bolts that are made for pedestals?

Hey Chumbucket, went to the sites you listed for the Garelick Toggle Bolts. Have you used them? Do they come with bolts? I would guess not.... how are they machined, what thread and length do I need to get through the floor, will 3" be enough? Additional help would be appreciated.
Thank you, Lead Head |

I used them some time ago, so I really don't remember the thread sizes. Bolt length (mine did not come supplied with them) depends on application. Which is probably why they don't come supplied. I'm sure a call to your local marine supply store would answer those questions for you though. 8)

Lead Head, you'll probably have to get the toggles, then go find screws to fit...think 2" will get it, but stack it up to be sure...drill out hole big enough to insert toggle, then, hopefully you'll have some foam flotation to clear away B4 the toggles will go in...like CB and MJ said above; 5200 around all edges and openings B4 tightening the screws for the last time... ;)...
Oh and WELCOME to da board...post some pics of your B4, during and after if you can...we like to watch :o ::)...

you will need to buy the bolts seprate and I think for the seat it 5/16 or 3/8?? It will tell you right on the package what size they are.
