Smile Classic Boston Whaler 13- good buy?

Hey guys.
Long time reader, first time poster. Great community.

I love my V20 but I'm always looking for another project. I used to flip cars once in a while (ideally for a profit but not always).

I came across this classic 13 Boston Whaler for sale near me. I contacted the owner, who sent more pictures of the hull. Looks like it is definitely in need of a complete restoration. The gel coat is peeling and everything. He doesn't know what's wrong with the engine, something with the head, but they didn't think it was worth fixing.

I'm wondering what you guys think about this. What's a fair price? I feel like he's asking a bit much. If I bought it, I'd redo the hull inside and out, new benches, and obviously have to figure something out for the engine. I wouldn't want to spend more than I could get out of it, so what do you think one of these in good shape is worth?

old boat. assume you need a new motor and make an offer based on an old boat with no motor. I cant imagine anybody's breaking down his door to scoop that thing up. lowball him, give him your number and stand by your price. if you don't get it, there'll be another.

worth asking price if the motor will run, if it was a 15, people would be fighting over it

Whalers hold thier value well, u usually pay too much to get one, but u get more when u sell it. If ur building something to flip, i would go for a later model. That one probably has a 15 transom, which will limit ur motor options , unless u built it up.

I have a 64 that was in very rough shape. All i did was sand and patch, throw some paint on it and use it for 25 years. It is waterlogged and back in rough shape again, but it still gets the job done. I use it for a work boat scalloping and crabbing. I love it

Ur user name is surfdoc, so maybe u can trade out with a chiropractor or dentist, you will need one for back and replace fillings

Haha thanks guys, decided it's probably not worth the trouble right now. Plenty of stuff that needs to be done on the V20.
