One can only try. Realistically, how many times do we see 60 mph gusts? But I agree with you that it's a possibility. And aesthetics are also an important factor as well. So how about a pole barn type of structure? More costly, but also more sturdy.

I used a similar one without sides. I used tie downs in front and back from the metal poles to boat. Never moved. And I could still get in and work on the boat if needed. Or sit there and drink a beer. But I did worry every time we had a wind storm. I live in pa on the side of a mountain so maybe not as much wind as u jersey guys?

Destroyer,
We ordered a 15 year inground pool cover 30'x45'.
Worked excellent! The cover has a 2" web binding around the edge where the grommets are fastened to keep from pulling out.
Made a ridge out of 2x3 and strapping and added 1/2" electrical conduit to keep snow from collecting.

Great idea and better then an average tarp.

Our states are right next to each other, and are very similar in topography, so I think that for the most part your weather and ours is about the same. Although, you may live on the other side of the appalachian mountains, and if so would get a different weather pattern.

Thank you. It's always goof to hear that a suggestion is working. I know I'm very happy with my pool cover tarps. I think the real rick is to make sure you get the 15 year tarp. This is one area where cheap just isn't an option. Glad you're happy with the results.
