I have a 225 Johnson on my V the foot was froze up is there a way to test it without the foot on it as long as it is only run for a min or so. if not can i spin it to test compression with foot off.

Yes. drop the lower like you would doing a water pump, you can do a compression and spark check on the power head, I routinely run two strokes with the lower removed, just don't run it for long, they heat up quick with no water

I used to have a short 5/8" water hose with the male end cut off so I could slide it over the water tube, hose clamp it, and feed it water straight from the hose. It worked nice for checking for combustion leaks because you could drop the water flow way down, then look for bubbles in the pee stream.
