Default virginia guys i need some info

Going to kiptopeke state park the 1st week in aug, its just above the tunnel. Might take the v if I can figure out how to get it and a camper there. Or my 12 aluminum boat if not. Where and what do I fish for? I don't want your secrete spots for monster fish, just want my 6 yr old to catch some fish and crabs. I do have a crab pot, just gotta look into the regs to see if its legal.

Cobia should still be hot. Not too far from Kiptopeake is a tanker quarantine area that usually is a great area to find them. There’s usually 20-30 tankers anchored there. We get right up in the middle of them. Get you a couple chum buckets and some eels and your set. We fished the area last week and pulled in some nice 40”+ fish.

As far as crabbing I believe as long as you have a fishing license your allowed to have a couple pots. Maybe 2 or 3 but definitely double check.

I mean regardless, you throw some squid or worms on a line note then likely you’ll be getting some croaker to bite anyways. Should be a fun time.
