Default Spring 2018 Update

Hi, everyone. I haven't posted for awhile, but I'm doing so to let you know that I still own and maintain my beloved V20. I brought her home this spring to replace the water pump, thermostats, plugs, and fuel filters; a dead battery; a broken bilge pump switch; and some corroded electrical junctions in the console. After doing so I refinished the swim platforms and transom steps, and also repainted the engine.

I posted a few photos of the finished product in the gallery. They're numbers 2-5 on this page: http://www.wellcraftv20.com/gallery/album06. I tried to post copies here as well, but wasn't able to do so.

I took her out today for a shakedown cruise and found everything to be 100%. The never-rebuilt 1989 Evinrude 200XP still purrs at idle, screams wide open, and jumps on plane in a matter of seconds. I'll try to take a new video of it going from idle to plane next weekend.

Needless to say the shakedown cruise was extremely satisfying. The engine is now 29 years old, and the hull is 43. That's pretty rare in boat years, but I look forward to continuing to enjoy this wonderful classic for many years to come.

Fitz, congratulations to you. Your boat looks spectacular. I'm sure you're very proud of it as you should be. I bet it turns a lot of heads when you take it out. Enjoy.

Thanks, guys. As every owner knows, the V20 is a remarkably strong, seaworthy, and versatile vessel. I think its design is so classic & well-thought that it will continue to be seen as timeless by many future happy owners as well.
