I am replacing the louvered vents on both sides on my v20. It had black plastic, replacing them with stainless steel.
My question is, does the direction of the vents affect anything other than looks? I ask this because it would seem to me that visually, they should point to the aft? Anyways, one of mine (starboard) was pointing forward, and I was wondering why!

Sterndrive boat? The one connected to your bilge blower the openings should face aft, so when you are running, it will still draw air out of the bilge. The other should face forward so fresh air will enter the bilge, just make sure to use the boxes behind the vents and run blower hose off the boxes to the bottom of the bilge. If you get salt spray on the engine, it will cause issues.
