I like the Racor filters because of the clear bowl and drain. *But then I use the Wally World TC-3 oil because Skools says its penzoil. It looks the same to me, but to each his own.

Hears a question, I have the Racor filter with out the clear bottom. When I change the filter, can I just replace with one of the ones with the clear botom, or do I need a top unit as well?

get the number of the unit then http://www.parker.com/ead/cm1.asp?cmid=392
on some you can get a probe that will set off a light or alarm when the water level gets that high

Sean, if you have an I/O you are supposed to use a solid metal racor rather than a clear plastic one since they're usually located inside the bilge on I/O models. Outboard racors are typicially mounted outside the bilge and they can use plastic.

Thats what I did. After you buy one with the clear bowl then you can buy just the filter next time and just put your old bowl on the new filter. I would recomend that you remove the old filter and the bowl to make sure you can remove the plastic bowl without any trouble. I'm a good drive from a place to purchase them and when I got home the plast bowl would not come off so I had to drive back and buy another one with the bowl.

put some anti sieze on it when you put the plastic on, it will make taking it apart easy.

EXCUSE MY 5 CENTS BUT A WATER SEPARATOR IS FOR THAT, TO SEPARATE WATER FROM GAS SO IT WOULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE CARB. I BUY THEM @ $3.99 EACH
AND CHANGE IT EVERY TWO TIMES I GO OUT, IT SAVES YOU A LOT OF MONEY AND DOWN TIME FOR THE PRICE OF 1 ADITIONAL GALLON OF GAS!!!!
