Default Yeti cup vs ozark cup

i have a yeti 30 oz cup kids gave me for christmas. i love it, keeps ice all day long. wanted another, but didn't like the $40. heard wally world was selling a 10 dollar knock off, finally found one in stock, so i tried it.

i filled both cups with ice and set them on the back porch. left them out overnight for 15 hours. got up next morning and drained water for comparison. not 100% scientific, but close enough for drink cups.

as you can see, pretty close to same melt rate.

just thought i'd share this

the yeti is silver & ozark is black

I absolutely love my Yeti tumbler. I got it as a groomsman gift from my best bud. He had them each engraved with each guys boat name! Cool idea!

I saw a tiny Yeti cooler at West Marine with a $249 price tag. It might have fit a 12 pack surrounded with ice.

For $249 I can buy 100 twenty pound bags of ice at BJ's...a ton of ice...

I just can't bust that nut.

Wow. Looks as if the Yeti melted a little bit more. The price people pay for a trendy name.

Skunk, I couldn't agree more. For me, the ice has to last one day... maybe two if I'm doing an overnight. My big Igloo does that with no problems, and it cost WAYYYYYYY less than a Yeti.

Thumbs up

Good experiment Phatdaddy. Got a friend with a yeti cup and another with a knock off, both like them.

I own 4 marine igloos plus a few smaller coolers. The last two I bought one was a 168 quart for 40 bucks, one was a 72 quart for 5 bucks at a garage sale. Got a 94 quart for free out of a derelict I drug out of the weeds.

a good freind of mine bought a Yeti, an Engels(sp?), and Icy Tech and a Rtec. put one bag of ice in each one, set them just inside his garage door. While he was home, he left teh garage door open. The Engelss held ice longer than teh rest, he returned the others back to the stores he bought them from. I needed a seat for my McKee, I checked on a rotomolded seeat for the console, my cost was oevr $300, I have used igloo cooler seats before and usually get 3 years outof them before they start falling apart. They are still not cheap and add in the cost of a cushion. I bought a Yeti 45 and had my canvas guy make me a real nice cushion(high density foam).I could get a deal on Yeti's, but noat any other brand. That cooler goes where ever I go, it lives in my work van and doubles as the seat in my Mckee. I bought a 65 qt Yeti for the V20, got a cushion just liek the 45. I fugutrr, I shouldnt ever have to buy another cooler

I found my 100qt Igloo Marine cooler on the side of the road. I went to work and seen it and thought, dang that sucks for somebody. Then 8 hours later on my way home it was still there so I thought what the heck, let me see how bad it's messed up. Only thing wrong were the hinges were broke. Top was still tethered on with the strap that keeps it from opening too far. Actually bought a set of improved hinges for $5. That was 7-8 years ago and we still use it regularly.

The coolers are a whole other debate. I personally feel like destroyer , I don't need to keep ice for 5-7 days. I have a 1985 105 qt gott that is fantastic. It was the "yeti" in its day.

But the cups, I really use everyday, so I thought I'd give a real world test.

Buy yeti if you want to, I'm going to buy Ozark and $30 more tackle
