Ive ran into a slight issue with my bilge pump, it is most likely a wiring issue but i cant seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated, heres my problem.
The bilge pump will turn on but will not pump water when i use the switch on my dash. When the float switch activates the pump turns on and pumps water like its supposed to. Ive switched the pump itself and still have the same issue so im almost positive it has to be a wiring issue but i cant figure out what it is. thanks

Reversed polarity at the dash switch? Making the pump spin backwards.
I didn't think that was possible on a DC motor however I seen stranger things.

check voltage at the switch with the pump running, then compare it to the voltage with it off. If theres a big differnce, your feed to the switch has an issues. If teh voltage t the swithc is good, then check voltage comign out, same way. Then check voltage at the pump running, not running. WHere you find teh big differnce is where the problem is

the issue was in the wiring somewhere between the pump and the console.
i took the easy way out and cut the wires, ran new wires from the pump to the battery and added a new switch. now she works like she should

Usually it is a brown wire from the pump that goes to the switch. Track it up under the dash and make sure the ends are clean from corrosion.
