Default What year is my evinrude 175 ?

Morning guys, I can't seem to find the year of my evinrude 175 motor. The tag is missing on the transome plate, is their some other place I can look to locate the number? I was told it was a 1989 but I would like to confirm that, I haven't needed any parts yet but I'm sure that will change soon enough ,, thanks,

Do a search on this site, I know I posted a chart for reading the model # probably about 4 years ago

Most of the earlier engines prior to the 90's would have a welch plug somewhere in the block that would also have the model info on it. If not, put a few pics up and we can give you an idea of what year range it falls into. Most parts besides carbs and ignition fit a wide range of engines(one of the reasons people can still get parts for the EVINRUDE/JOHNSON engines is MANY parts can fit engines from over 10 years). Things like jetting and igntion can be year specific though.
