Going to do a couple repairs and take it down to the keys in a month or so.
I've got a nice 16 foot aluminum jon boat I will be selling soon if your interested. I was REALLY interested in your boat, but I just can't afford to go offshore anymore, and with a 2 year old and another on the way, I couldn't justify a bigger boat right now. And welcome to selling on craigslist, gotta love the emails from guys who have watched to much pawn stars, and send you email for 30% of your asking price and tell you that you should kiss there a$$ for offering you that much, and take it as well as deliver it to them for free, full of fuel, and loaded with beer. Craigslist has been great, and HORRIBLE all at the same time. But I blame shows like pawn stars and the like for making everybody believe they are some sort of master negotiator and can get something for whatever they feel is good. If I think the asking price is in the ballgame, I show up, look it over, make sure I think it is what was described, then ask them there bottom dollar. If it jives with what I feel comfortable with, I buy it, if not I say thank you for your time and move on.

Thumbs up

Well said Ferm. I never want to insult anyone or embarass myself with an offer. A lot of people don't have a clue much less any money but like to waste other peoples time it seems. I love it when they call and havent even seen the item and ask your lowest price over the phone. I usually add 20 percent to my asking price in the ad. After a few seconds of crickets chirping they act all confused when I tell them I'll take $120 for something listed at $100. Y'all should try it, makes it worth dealing with the morons. About 80 percent are low ballers/dreamers/idiots, but the other 20 percent are actually pretty cool people I've found. I've actually put together a few multiple item deals with people I've met after I know what their in the market for. I'll run craigslist hard for a month or so selling stuff then I have to take a break for a while. Answering the phone and explaining to almost every caller every detail of the item for sale gets old especially when I list the details in the ad. Not to mention the texts you get when your ad clearly states NO TEXTS!!!

Don't forget "is it still available" even when you put " if the ad's up the item is still for sale"

It's a good boat but I've been on the fence about selling it since I started trying... I love the boat but I thought if I could only have one boat a fish & ski would be more practicle for us but when I told the wife i wouldn't take a fish & ski out to the reefs if we went to the keys she decided two boats would be a great idea. Of corse this is even better for me I'll gladly keep the v and get a smaller boat for fishing the lakes.
I don't know what it is about craigslist for me lately I used to sell stuff all the time on there and had pretty good luck with it but the last few things I've tried to sell on there have not turned out well. I guess it is the pawn star thing or something but like you guys said people want to talk you into giving stuff away. My favorite was a few years ago I wa trying to sell a motorcycle on Craigslist and a guy called and wanted to trade me 2 Palm trees and a riding mower for it.... Yeah no thanks.
