2000 Suburban (1500 4WD) averages 15-16 mpg, no matter how I drive it, except when pulling a heavy trailer or boat it drops a few. Stock size tires, though. It has 267,000 miles on it and it's still going strong.

Have you recalibrated your mpg taking into account the increase in distance traveled per revolution of your tire? You know how the speedo is affected, registering slower than your actual speed, the odometer is similarly affected.
