Fillet, I like just about everything you suggested! Especially being able to raise the deck some and make the scuppers work better, but just a little curious about why you would widen the gunwales? I know I'd like them a bit higher, but why a big overhang?

Pipe, the idea of stretchin' the hull to 22' has been kicked around...he may be thinkin' "proportionally" increasing gunwale size w/ some toe-space...I wouldn't think very much increase...more height than thickness is what I THINK he's got in mind...what say ye, F1?...

I am talking about making the top edge of the gunnels (ie where you mount rod holders) TWICE as wide as they are now. The extra width would be added to the inside edge of the gunnel, so it now overhangs the cockpit. The edge would come down 10 inches or so. The gunnels would then allow the flush mount of holders in different positons- meaning you can rotate them to angle the rods over the side rather then straight back. The overhang gives you much better balance when leaning overboard - no need for toe rails, lets you mount hawse pipes for lines and you can add coaming pads to it for comfort.. You could then eliminate the rod boxes because you can simply mount holders on the liner under the gunnel. |

F1, I'm with you. I even may have a line on a builder willing to take on a limited quanity buils. Here if Florida the are lots of skilled people, as far as boat building is concerned. I have made a few contacts and a couple seem promising. I'll continue putting out feelers. How many guys would be interested????
