welcome, looks like you got a few projects ahead of you. do a site search and you should get a lot of info on the transom repair. i think i will have to do the same to mine one day. a few members have done the arjay/seacast pour method. it looks the least painful to me.
as far as the cabin overhead, probably need to pull the cap, turn it over and address it that way. but, i would be tempted to clean it up and try to laminate a piece of 2 inch square aluminum tubing to the existing beam(like the po did with the wood) but use the west g flex epoxy. they make it in a caulk tube that mixes the resin & hardner as it comes out and flows like silicone. you can run a bead upside down with no sag. i'm a "on site fabricator" kinda guy, might not win any beauty contest, but if it held, beats pulling the cap.
