Default Advice on recoreing area above cuddy

I've herd of a few people doing this but can't seem to find much info on what's involved. Can anyone give me some insight on this? The area over the cuddy on my v is kind of weak and sometimes I have to climb on it when retrieving the anchor and docking it's a little unnerving. Is this a job that can be done without seperating the hull? Are there any alternatives I.e.building some bracing inside the cuddy area?
